Documents needed for business funding, by product

Documents are where funding timelines go to die. Most delays are not underwriting; they are a missing voided check or a statement page that got cut off. Here is what each product asks for and the three items that unblock most files.

By product

SBA loans (education)All of the above plus SBA forms, a business plan for newer businesses, and personal financial statementsAppraisals; environmental reports for real estate; citizenship or residency documentation

The three documents that unblock most files

  1. Complete bank statements as PDFs downloaded from the bank, every page, for every month requested.
  2. A voided business check or a bank letter showing the account and routing numbers (share these only with the provider you have chosen, never on an inquiry form).
  3. Proof of ownership: articles of organization or incorporation, or the IRS EIN letter, matching the name on the account.

Why stips exist

Stipulations verify identity, ownership, and the account the money goes to and comes from. They are fraud controls, not judgment calls, and they rarely get waived. Having them ready before you apply is the single biggest speed lever you control. How funding speed really works.

What you should not have to provide

  • Bank login credentials to a party you have not chosen to work with.
  • A Social Security number on a first-contact inquiry form.
  • Up-front fees to "process" documents.

What Fast Mula is and isn't. Fast Mula helps you compare business-funding structures and submit one inquiry. Nothing on this site is an offer, approval, guaranteed rate, or guaranteed timeline. Any funding depends on a provider's own review, and terms vary by state.

Common questions

Do I need tax returns for a business loan?
For bank term loans and SBA, yes. For advances and most online lines, usually not; statements carry the file.
What is a stipulation in business funding?
A document or condition required before funding, such as a voided check or proof of ownership. "Stips" are the last step and the most common delay.
